Great day bass fishing today. Went out about 4 in the Jackson Kayak and got to do some awesome casting for bass. Spinnerbaits did well as did a Texas rig worm. For whatever reason I didn’t get a hit on a chatterbait. However as dusk moved in I switched to a large perch like minnow bait and fishes the weed edge facing the deep main body of water and got a 19.5 inch 4 lb largemouth, my best ND to date!
Windy day on Kota-Ray but managed a few nice bass, holding close to the weed edges. 3 total, but the two biggest were 17 and 17.5 inches, nice fish for that lake.

Got 20 fish with the smallest being 15 and biggest being 21. All were in 5 to 10 ft of water using spinners at about 1mph. They didn’t seem to care about bait or color.
Went out shore fishing at lewis and Clark yesterday with Sam and did really well. We fished the point at lewis and Clark with slip bobber in about 3 feet of water topped with jig head and minnow. Water is high and muddy but fish were biting. Managed several white bass, a crappie, a catfish, and a super nice walleye that sam let go. 26.5 inch, 7 lb, fish! Crappie was spawned out already but may have just happened. Bass were not.
Waiting to hear on smelt spawn, should be soon! Also caught crawlers tonight from my yard so good times. Also went to springlake and got 1 trout, 2 cats, and like 6 bullhead.
Day 1 of paddlefishing and no fish yet. Had a great evening though! Weather turning to be amazing this evening, no wind, 60 degrees, and few snags lol. Water is really high this year makomg fishing a bit harder but i am sure we will find some. Tomorrow we try again Samantha!
Finally we have open water! Latest winter ice I have yet seen. Anyways went to skunk for pike and was not dissapointed. Lots of post spawn fish actively feeding and we did well. I caught 6 fish, most being about 5 lbs with the biggest at 16. Smelt, minnows, and artificial worked.
Crappie were also there, they are still in pre spawn, will need to look for when they move and see if I can’t target them year round there.
Went out today for was us likely to be my last time out on the ice this spring. Lewis and Clark bay still has 3 ft of ice but the water has turned brown from run off and got no bites after a few hours. A small section of stony creek has opened up so will try there tomorrow.
Still 2 ft+ of ice on the lakes and streams. Have had some warming cycles which have lead to the opening of the river but that’s it. Have not been out lately so nothing else to say, but this is a very late ice off.
Went out pike fishing at lewis and clark. Caught 3, 2 at 9lbs and one small male. Fish are in the bay but don’t really become active till towards evening. Link to a video from the day: https://youtu.be/Vezn7H2ehxk
