5.2.20 Amanda’s big walleye

Took the boat out with amanda, was a nice 70 degree day but was pretty windy. Water temp was 52 degrees. We only got 1 walley in 8 ft of water on a green Lindy minnow and that was this 7 lb whopper for amanda. Otherwise we caught some small pike and white bass. Was pretty slow for everyone it seemed.

4.21.20 Lunds

Went back to lunds again on the 19th and got next to nothing. It was colder and sunny. Today though it was our first 70 degree and warm day with warmer windy days the last 3 and it paid off! I must have caught 20 white bass and a 20 inch walleye. Rooke also got a nice 8 lb pike.

I also got my first pike on the fly!! And on my fly

4.18.20 Lunds

Finally open water!!! Ok lunds was half open, weather was low 50s, windy, and cloudy but the white bass were stacked in the culvert in like 3 feet if water. A few male pike were there as well, and I caught one at 10 lbs! Feasting on the white bass I think as I saw one attack one and the pike had what looked like one in its stomach. First real bit of warm weather though so the start of real spring.

Lunds 2.15.20

Went out to Lunds to try and find some big pike that might be there this time of year. Ended up having a good day overall, with most of our fish coming during mid day, 2-3 ish. Got 2 walleye, 3 pike, and a eelpout! Fishing in 7-12 feet of water out on the west end of the bay near the opening with the submerged stumps. Seemed like a good spot, but only got 1 big pike at 12 lbs.

Lunds 12/27/19

Tried Lunds landing again today for pike, I always feel like that little point by the marina should be so good in winter. I managed to catch 4 smaller pike, 3 being identical at 27 inches. Nothing too impressive, all came from 3-4 o’clock. Nice sunny blue sky day with no wind though.

Side note one pike had a small crappie in it, so kinda cool. No pics sadly.

5.28.19 my boat is nice!

Went out with Haley and Amanda today on a lovely 75 degree day with light South winds, that ended up making for some waves but it was still super nice. We caught 5 walleye, 4 keepers, all at 15ish feet. Also picked up some big drum, a huge crappie, and some white bass. White bass ate shallow and spawning so havn’t caught a lot of big ones from boat. We were using minnows and lindy rigs. People are still doing good from shore for walleye too.

Walleye 5.25.19

Went out in the boat today managed 9 walleye. Caught them from 9 to 17 however people at the cleaning station were jigging in 22 feet of water. They seem to be all over and are moving out of post spawn. Bite is still good though. Weather was nice, with a bit of wind, water temp 58 degrees.

Spring 2019 report

Spring started off strong then stalled for like ever but I think things are starting to normal out. Spawns are done but the bite is solid. Smelt have yet to spawn but should really soon.

Walleye are up shallow and biting strong on spinners, cranks, and plastics. I have done good with the plastic storm minnow and jig, and minnows on a floating jig from shore and boat.

Pike are also still cruising the shallows looking for food and the white bass are everywhere. Some bigger ones are starting to move in for spawn.

Temps have been low for awhile almost freezing at night and barely 50 during day. But we are warming finally and I believe that will make the smelt run soon.

Side note I have caught my 2 biggest walleye the last few weeks at 5 lbs each and I put rooke on a huge fish at 10 lbs. She was sitting in 14 ft of water on a cooler day in the evening.

Double!

Went out fishing at Lunds today along the rocks hoping for some eyes, didn’t find any but as the wind shifted and came up we did find some frenzy feeding white bass and a great time was had. I even managed to get 2 on one rattletrap! They really like the silver with green top on Sakakawea. Some were really good size at 2 lbs and change.
